Pipeline Portraits: Through the Lens of Sunny Golden

The North Shore of Oahu is the surf mecca every winter, buzzing with competition and good vibes as the world’s best surfers gather for their chance at glory. It’s no suprise that with an extreme reef break like Banzai Pipeline, surf photographers and filmmakers everywhere flock to Oahu throughout the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing series. Huge expensive lenses and RED cameras come out from all corners to document one of the world’s gnarliest waves.

There was one particular photographer on the scene this week that was able to capture a unique perspective from behind her lens. 15-year-old Sunny Golden is a Hawaii native and emerging photographer, above and beyond her years in talent and sure to make her way on to the scene quickly. From brilliant portraiture to wide angle lineup frames, Sunny’s keen eye proves worthy of publication just as someone in the field with decades of experience. Hawaii’s beauty adds to the vibrant colors in her shots. Sunny proves that the photographer’s eye is nothing short of a gift.
