I have to say…. I am fortunate enough to reside in Ventura, CA. Most of the time, the waves and the weather are beyond perfect. Glassy 3-4+ waves with offshore winds and constant 75 degrees, I mean life could be worse.
However, I’d be lying if I told you EVERY day was perfect. There are those days when the winds aren’t in your favor and conditions are disastrous. It’s the full circle of life. You’ve got to have bad days in order to appreciate the good.
You rarely hear about those in-between days when the waves are barely a foot tall and it’s a struggle catching anything on your 9′ nose rider that you just dusted off. As a predominant shortboarder, I actually live for these days. When you gather your crew together and paddle out with no expectations. There is just something pure about it. Sitting out on the calm waters, laughing with your friends, catching as many waves as you can without caring about performance. To me, there is something magical about days like these.
