PISMO BEACH PIER, Pismo Beach, California/USA (Saturday, November 18, 2017) – Round Two Heat 9 of the World Surf League (WSL) Men’s Qualifying Series (QS) Pismo Beach Open QS1,000 has been called ON for 8:00 a.m. PDT start. A slight decrease in swell offers two, occasional plus, foot swell for competitors to test their skills in the water. A decisive day of competition will determine tomorrow’s finals day draw with the last of the top seeds prepared to make their debuts this morning.
“It was a great opening day of action here with some big performances and we’re all excited to get back underway today,” Robbins said. “We’ll continue with Round Two Heat 9 right away at 8:00 a.m. and take advantage of the swell we have on offer. It’ll be an exciting day two of action as we’ll know our Quarterfinalists by day’s end and there’s a lot of talent here to battle for those spots. Good luck to all our competitors.”
Action gets underway with Santa Barbara, California, native, and reigning North America QS Regional Champion, Kilian Garland (USA) looking to defend his title, but must deal with Pro Junior talent Tommy McKeown (USA), Round One standout Derek Peters (USA), and Brandon Mitchell (USA) in Round Two Heat 9.
QS veteran Cory Arrambide (USA) is set to take on Santa Cruz, California, local Ben Coffey (USA), along with Parker Swoish (USA) and Dan Hart (USA) in Round Two Heat 11.
Round Two Heat 13 features North America QS Regional Champion threat Cole Houshmand (USA) pitted against Brazilian talent Pedro Todaro (BRA), Kent Nishiya (USA), and Hunter Lyslaught (USA).
