For the first time in history, three Category 4 hurricanes are present in the Pacific. With hurricane season well underway, and summer travel in full swing, this could only be bad news. The Hawaiian Islands, the Philippines, Japan, and other island nations are at risk for potential damage caused by these storms, which are currently on a Northeast path of destruction.
As of Sunday night, Hurricane Kilo, Ignacio, and Jimena were all strong Category 4’s, with possible winds up to 140 mph. Hurricane Ignacio has just missed the Hawaiian Islands, but Jimena is not close behind. Hopefully there are no major damages caused by these hurricanes to anyone stuck in their paths.
Although summertime usually means good surf, stormy conditions as of late may put a halt to surfing for the time being. However, some big-wave chargers like Tom Carroll and Ross-Clarke Jones soak up the aftermath of storms and the swells they produce.
May all those in the direct paths of the hurricanes take any necessary precautions, and stay safe!
