Since San Francisco can still have its foggy days during summer time, Santa Cruz is my escape of the fog especially when there are waves. The weather, the feeling of summer, the point breaks, my photography projects, and the south swells are all the good things that attracts me to Santa Cruz during the summer time.
A south swell headed towards Santa Cruz about three weekends ago and brought fun waves to Pleasure Point. When I saw the potential of this swell heading towards Santa Cruz, I called my friend Andre Gioranelli to setup a visit and shoot some photos. After all confirmed, I packed my stuff and waited to start driving the next day.
As expected, at 8AM, Pleasure Point was already firing head high to a couple feet overhead in the sets and they were the best ones, the waves were throwing the lip for amazing open barrels. After an hour shooting I created this gallery of the best moments of the south swell on July 11th.
