At the age of 10 Carissa Moore told to her father, who is also her coach, that she desired to do whatever it took to be the world’s best surfer. 11 years later, the Hawai’i native has now stamped her name on her second ASP World Championship Tour title.
In this video, RedBull tells the story of Moore’s burning passion to win a world title. Since the beginning of partnering with her, the company happily obliged to assist Moore on her journey to success through extensive training. Lisa Stewart, hired by Redbull as Carissa’s boxing coach, was assigned to draw out the animal instinct and aggression within Moore by putting her in vulnerable situations. These training techniques empowered the young athlete to drive through difficult barriers and win her first world title.
After her first win in 2011, Carissa Moore entered a hazy transition period the following year on tour. The discouraged and exhausted athlete lost all ambition after attaining a goal she had only dreamt of.
Once Moore handed over the trophy to Stephanie Gilmore in 2012, she regained her eagerness to win another world title. The goal driven surfer battled her way to the top and achieved her second world title in 2013. Moore is proud of her accomplishments but reminds us that surfing is about being with the people you love and doing what you love.
