On the small island of Micronesia lives an endless, barreling right known as Palikir Pass. Some have claimed the crystal blue, heavy wave located in Pohnpei to be one of the world’s best when conditions are right.
ASP Women’s 2013 World Title Runner-Up, Tyler Wright (AUS), made time for a trip to the reef break just last year with brother Owen, and fellow Rip Curl team riders Matt Wilkinson and Luke Hynd. The crew paddled out on a solid 8ft day at P-Pass and scored wide open barrels in the eighty degree water.
Despite the intimidating power and size of the wave, Wright managed to find herself deep inside the tube several times that day with the encouragement of a few others in the lineup.
The 19-year old athlete from Culburra Beach, New South Wales has been a huge threat on the WCT as one of the youngest competitors traveling the world and maintaining her spot amongst the top three surfers. Wright will kick off the 2014 season battling to defend her title at the Roxy Pro Gold Coast beginning March 1st.
