As if the waves in Nazaré aren’t a jaw-dropping sight to see all on their own, throw in Kelly Slater (USA) with some Black Mamba tunes in the mix, and you’ve got yourself one entertaining clip. Wonderland Productions caught the 11x ASP World Champion paddling alone in Nazaré during the waiting period of the Peniche Rip Curl Pro. This film edit captures Slater pulling into wave after heavy wave, air dropping and fighting to maintain control of his board.
Filmed and edited by Wonderland Productions. Music by Black Mamba – “It ain’t you.”

“Big Monday” documents a historical big wave session in Nazaré, Portugal, filmed by Miguel Costa on October 28th, 2013. A skilled group of big wave athletes entered the 60 ft+ swell that hit the small fishing town, internationally known for Garrett McNamara’s 100ft bomb this year – a World Record for largest wave ever surfed. Led by McNamara’s expertise, the Big Monday tow-in crew included: Maya Gabeira, Carlos Burle, Andrew Cotton, Sylvio Mancusi, Rodrigo Koxa, Felipe Cesarano, Hugo Vau, Eric Rebiere and Pedro Scooby.
Despite a frightening near-death experience for Maya Gabeira, the 26-year-old female big wave surfer earned her Billabong XXL Big Wave Awards 2013 ‘Ride of the Year’ entry on a giant, turbulent wave at Nazaré.
