Action sports photographer, Matthew Lang, brings Ocean County to life with amazing still images of East Coast swells. Born and raised in New Jersey, Lang has been fascinated by the ocean ever since he could remember, and has since learned to express his passion and support of the sport of surfing through photography. It wasn’t until his father gifted him his first Canon 35mm in college that his talent for photography grew exponentially, and since then, Lang has been perfecting his shots for the past 7 years.
“Surfing to me is that spiritual place that takes you away from all your cares and makes you feel very at peace,” Matthew Lang tells The Surf Channel.
Lang’s arsenal of photography equipment currently consists of a Nikon D5100 with an 18-55mm lens, 70-300mm lens; and for shooting underwater images, a Canon Powershot Elph 100 HS and the Canon waterhousing. Check out the shots below from Ocean County, New Jersey, and be sure to keep your eyes on A Shore Shot Photography by Matthew Lang, as he updates his profile regularly with heart-pounding imagery.
“I love capturing a session and looking back upon how good the waves were and how good the guys were riding that day,” says Lang.
“The greatest thing about taking photos would have to be the pure adrenaline and stoke I get when I nail the shot! I challenge myself with every session, trying different angles and lighting conditions,” says Lang.
