The traditional ASP Soöruz Lacanau Pro returns this summer to the Grande Plage of Lacanau in France from August 9th through August 12th. Europe’s best under-20 surfers will compete just a little before the WCT qualification race starts from August 13th through Aug 18th.
The ASP 5-Star Men’s Soöruz Lacanau Pro is one of the favorite competitions amongst the international athletes. This year, the winner will take home a $20,000 check and 2,000 ranking points.
ASP Europe’s tour manager, Rob Gunning, says of the competition, “The confirmation of the Soöruz Lacanau Pro adds yet another important Star event to the ASP Europe men’s tour,” and he continued, “The longest running event in Europe has seen many of the current world’s best surfers in action at the Soöruz Lacanau Pro, namely Gabriel Medina, Kolohe Andino and Felipe Toledo amongst others. The Airwalk Pro Junior will also be a huge event where traditionally we have seen an excellent mix of international and European surfers,” he said.
Like last year’s edition, spectators and surfers can expect great performances go down in classic tubing beach break conditions during the 10-day surf and music festival in the touristic Lacanau area.
