What better way to spend America’s birthday then on a beach with your toes in the sand? In anticipation of the holiday, here are some suggestions for your Fourth of July celebration on the coast of the US of A.
The Surf Channel presents the Top 6 Most Epic Beach Celebrations on Fourth of July.
6. Del Mar, California
San Diego knows how to rage on the Fourth with bonfires, barbecues, and beers along the beach with awesome fireworks. Californians keep it hippie, camping out overnight to make sure they have an epic spot on the sand for a full day of partying from dusk till dawn. San Diego also has a three-week County Fair on the Del Mar Fairgrounds right along the coast. No matter where you are, you won’t be able to miss the Big Bay Fireworks that light up around 9 p.m.
5. Miami, Florida
Miami brings partying on the fourth to a whole new level on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. The biggest beachfront party is on 8th street and Ocean Drive, which includes a huge Fourth of July festival complete with live music, a parade, concession booths and fireworks – of course. Miami is packed on the big day of celebration with people partying to no end!
4. Hermosa Beach, California
Southern California is blessed with some of the radest beaches to celebrate the holiday full throttle. Hermosa Beach has become the craziest spot to spend the 4th of July with open house parties, a bike path full of people and the bars are packed. What makes the Fourth legendary at Hermosa is their annual Iron Man competition, where participants must run a mile on the beach, paddle a surfboard one mile, and then consume a 6-pack of their favorite beer! The first one back to chug and finish their beers wins – all in front of over 1,000 spectators.
If your interested in joining, anyone 21-years-old and over is eligible to enter. $20 entry and you will need to bring your own surfboard and 6-pack. To participate, register before July 3rd at GAME CHANGERS.
3. New Orleans, Louisiana
New Orleans is always a crazy fun place to visit, but the Fourth of July is the best way to experience the birthplace of Mardi Gras. The city celebrates the 4th on the Mississippi River where two barges battle it out to put on the best fireworks ever! This Marti Gras style 4th includes a party with live music, home-style Louisiana food and chances to win fun prizes.
2. San Francisco, California
Drive up North to San Francisco and enjoy fireworks by the Bay at Pier 39. The beautiful city has so many tourist attracts and some of the sickest fireworks in Northern California. There is a free concert right along the water that starts at 4 p.m. where you can dance, bring the kids and enjoy the sea breeze. Fisherman’s Warf can be your typical tourist attraction on your average day, but on the 4th there is no better place in the city where you can see the fireworks and picnic along the Bay.
1. Honolulu, Hawai’i
Hurry up and check the flights, because if you get the weekend off for the Fourth, you might as well fly off to Oahu. Hawai’i has some of the world’s most beautiful beaches along the flourishing city of Honolulu, where you can party on the beach or check out the club scene. There are more than 10,000 people expected to watch the fireworks along the shores of Waikiki. You can’t beat a Fourth of July Hawaiian style, and Waikiki’s fireworks are firing up three different platforms this year.
