SMASH FEST 1 will be hosting the world premiere of the surf film, A Hundred Miles to the End, directed and produced by John Beattie. After suffering a stroke in 2007, Beattie made a strong recovery but wasn’t able to continue surfing. The film follows the former lifelong surfer from Long Beach to Montauk as he reconnects his passion for surfing in the different surfing communities throughout Long Island.
The premiere will take place on Saturday, July 13th at 7p.m. at the Long Beach Public Library in Long Beach, NY.
SMASH FEST 1 will be presenting a variety of surf films and art events during a whole month in the New York area including Brooklyn, Rockaway Beach, Long Beach and Montauk, and will serve as the first profit sharing surf film festival for independent filmmakers. The profits from the opening evening of the festival will go to Friends of the Library and they will also have a raffle for the Long Beach Surfer’s Association and Artists in Partnership Inc.
