Award winning documentary director and producer, Sara Blecher, brings you Otelo Burning. The 1989 story filmed in Zulu, Africa takes place at a time of rising conflict between two political groups in Lamontville when sixteen year old, Otelo Buthelezi discovers his passion for surfing. As the film moves forward, it is clear that Otelo was born to surf but eventually is torn between his success in surfing and justice. Otelo Burning is a true story that portrays a difficult time in the history of South Africa. Get a taste of the film below with music by South African Hip Hop artist, ‘Reason’.
