August 27th welcomed the start of the Surf Eco Festival 2012 on the Jaguaribe Beach in Salvador, the busy capital of Bahia, Brazil. Consistent swell all week on the Atlantic Coast made for an easy opening day for Brazilian surfers fighting in 3-4 ft (1-meter) waves for points on the ASP World Qualifying Tour. The Surf Eco Festival is the last stop in Brazil for qualifying points, after the cancelation of the Santa Catarina stop.
Moving on to the Quarter Finals (Brazilian Match-Ups):

2. Deivid Silva (SP) x Aurélio Santana (BA)
