California’s hurricane season is not over yet. In fact, a massive storm is brewing in the North Pacific Ocean looking to slam Mexico and head up the coast of California. The south swell is likely to produce overhead waves in Southern California for next week, starting around Monday or Tuesday, Septemeber 15/16th, 2014.
The exact size and date of arrival are variable, but let’s just say the mid-week swell may create some absences in the office.
This new storm follows the historic Hurricane Marie swell, which produced 15-20 ft wave faces in some south-facing spots in Southern California. It’s arrival fits just in time for the Hurley Pro Trestles and Swatch Women’s Pro Trestles events at San Onofre State Beach.
However, Lowers won’t be the only spot going off…
One surfer drowned at Malibu Pier during Hurricane Marie in the high surf. Although it is early to determine the exact size of this incoming hurricane swell, we would like to stress the importance of safety first. California State lifeguards remind you that, “when in doubt, don’t go out!”
Safe surfing everyone!
