Hawai’i experienced a recent run of XXL swell over the week, courtesy of a powerful storm swell produced by Typhoon Nuri out of the Northern Pacific. On Maui, local and visiting surfers were charging at the the infamous surf spot known as Jaws.
In the mix was Maui local and 20 year old Tyler Larronde. Over the past few years, he’s made a big name for himself, earning the cover of Surfer Magazine when he was just 16 years old. In the video below, see why Tyler is granted such nods as he puts himself in situations most would only fear.
A part of the younger generation, he’s taking big wave surfing to the next level. Tyler entered his latest wipeout in the 2015 XXL Big Wave Awards “Wipeout of the Year.” In the video below, start watching at the 2 minute mark to see his commitment in action.
