Former professional surfer Chris Brown was found dead last week. His body was recovered below the bluffs of the Douglas Family Preserve near Arroyo Burro Beach County Park in Santa Barbara.
Anthony Wagner, the SB police spokesman, told the media that “Brown’s cause of death remains open, and foul play had not been ruled out”.
Chris Brown competed on the world tour of surfing as a teenager and won the world amateur surfing title in 1988 and the Professional Surfing Association of America otherwise known as the Bud Pro Tour championship in 1994. In the past years, Chris has been working as a commercial urchin diver.
Close friend and fellow 90’s competitor Kelly Slater made a tribute on his Instagram saying “This guy was just such an excited, happy light in my childhood. We were nearly inseparable as teenagers.”
A GoFundMe page was created to raise money for Brown’s funeral.
