Some of the world’s best women surfers are ready for their debuts among yesterday’s top performers and QS elite. Rounds 3 and 4 are on schedule for Saturday’s competition in two-to-three foot waves at Oceanside Pier.
“Yesterday was great to watch with a preview of what the weekend will hold,” North America Tour Manager Brian Robbins said. “Now we have fourteen of the Top 17 in attendance here, alongside the best QS competitors and upcoming talents to continue competition today. Waves have dropped off slightly as expected, but there’s still a lot of scoring potential out there and we can’t wait to see what unfolds today. Best of luck to all our competitors.”
Starting things off, current Women’s Championship Tour (CT) No. 4 Johanne Defay (FRA) and fellow countrymen, former CT competitor, Pauline Ado (FRA) will take on yesterday’s standout Kobie Enright (AUS) alongside 2018 threat Zoe McDougall (HAW) in Round 3 Heat 1.
Defending Supergirl Pro victor Courtney Conlogue (USA) returns to Oceanside against fellow CT competitor Bronte Macaualy (AUS), alongside event threats Ella Williams (NZL) and Bailey Nagy (HAW) in Round 3 Heat 2.
Round 3 Heat 3 awaits 3x WSL Champion Carissa Moore (HAW) matched up against former CT competitor Chelsea Tuach (BRB) alongside Basque Country’s Ainara Aymat (EUK) and one of Costa Rica’s best Leilani McGonagle (CRI).
A long-awaited appearance from 6x WSL Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) at the Supergirl Pro will be realized as she battles wildcard Alana Blanchard (HAW), and Japanese representatives Mahina Maeda (JPN) and Ren Hashimoto (JPN) in Round 3 Heat 6.
Former Supergirl Pro winner Tatiana Weston-Webb (HAW) looks to continue her brilliant 2018 campaign against a dangerous, Pro Junior threat Kirra Pinkerton (USA), former CT competitor Dimity Stoyle (AUS), and San Clemente, California, native Tia Blanco (PRI).
