On Superbowl Sunday, two women were reportedly swept out to sea due to rough conditions just minutes apart.
At Oysterville Beach just north of Ocean Park on the Long Beach peninsula in Washington, many beach-goers congregate to the shorelines in search of clams. On February 4th, two women died at sea while clamming 4 minutes apart from one another stated Pacific County Sheriff Scott Johnson.
The combination of rough surf and terrible weather was a recipe for disaster. Once the reported person(s) went missing, lifeguards sent out rescue helicopters to scope out to area. Both of the bodies were discovered and identified, however it was not released to the public.
These tragedies prompted Sheriff Johnson to release a statement to avid beach-goers reminding everyone to be aware of powerful and unpredictable waves.
