A little background on Soli Bailey… born May 1995, Solamon Storm Bailey, grew up in Byron Bay surfing The Pass from the age of two, realizing pretty quickly he had little dreams for anything else but to surf. Boasting a backing of elite sponsors, he has managed to live his dream so far, traveling the world establishing an impressive start to his competitive career.
Fast forward to the 2017 Volcom Pipe Pro, after a few lay days the competition was beginning to grow mundane. Crowds were anxious to see who would take the lead, and surfers were itching to paddle back out.
After many top seeds dropped out of the semis, the win was up for grabs. The final heat featured Griffin Colapinto, Bruce Irons, Adriano de Souza, and of course the winner Soli Bailey. Each competitor for a different part of the world. No HUGE scores were put on the board util Soli threw down a 7 point ride towards the middle of the heat. He kept his momentum, following that ride with a 5.93. Bailey put up the two top scoring waves that heat, so it was no surprise when the buzzer chimmed and Soli threw his arms in victory! Congratulations Soli, a well deserved win at Pipe.
