The OTHER Side of Skating is a unique film screening put together by Margaret Seelie, creator of OTHER projects, and Skate Like a Girl featuring two action sport films headlining radical lady skateboarders. This events purpose is to share the stoke in an inspirational and creative way with the community. Another intriguing quality about the OTHER project, is that it highlights and celebrates stories that are often untold by the mainstream media.
What to expect at this event: FREE entry and alcohol provided by Lagunitas for those over 21 and a great night connecting with others that share the same passion for shredding and skate mayhem. The event is hosted at Avocados and Coconuts space and will be held on Friday, December 4th at 1417 15th Street, San Francisco.
The two exclusive films include; Getting Nowhere Faster and Quit Your Day Job.
Getting Nowhere Faster was produced by Villa Villa Cola, a collective of artists, skaters and surfers. Some members included in the film are Tiffany Campbell, Lisa Whitaker, Nicole Morgan, Alex White, Lori D, and more. Getting Nowhere Faster features skaters like Vanessa Torres, Amy Caron, Alex White, Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins, and more.
The second film Quit Your Day Job will feature their extended trailer, as the full length film is set to be released in February of 2016. The film follows Director, Monique O’Toole, and her journey from skate instructor to a freelance filmmaker.
The event is free but Skate Like A Girl will also be collecting donations. Skate Like A Girl will also be hosting an event earlier that day at SOMA skatepark from 4-6pm. So be sure to check that out before heading to the OTHER Side of Skating film screening event.
