Action sports filmmaker Perry Gershkow is all about the adventure. And when you are talking about road tripping along the Northern California coastline and Mexico, there’s no doubt that’s exactly what you are going to get.
In his latest film titled, ‘Llevame de Vuelta’, or ‘Take Me Back’, Gershkow allows viewers to share in his journey with Austin Smith-Ford, Kyle Buthman and Kyle Thiermann on a trip to Mainland Mexico in search of waves and empty lineups. The film follows the ups and downs that come with seeking pristine, uncrowded surf, as well as the benefits of shredding one of the best waves in the world.
In the end, they challenge one another, and score the waves of their lives.
“The best part about working with Austin, Buthman and Thiermann is their sense of humors. There wasn’t one dull moment on the whole trip. Whether the surf was pumping or flat, these guys were always stoked and made the best out of any situation. It always makes the trip that much for fun when your filming a group of guys who you share similarities with and become friends. Not only that, but these guys know how to charge when its time to step up.” -Perry Gershkow
The young filmmaker also ventured along the Northern California coastline in search of wave variety, terrain, and creating little victories along the way. His 30-minute film documents eight different surf spots, starting in Santa Cruz and ending with some serious tube time in San Francisco.
‘Little Victories’ captures the best of that journey with some of the best underground surfers including: Austin Smith-Ford, Tyler Payne, Colin Dwyer, Bryce Adams, Chris Williams, Michael Taras, Teddy Miller, Matt Myers, Kyle Thiermann, Jason “Ratboy” Collins, Morgan Albertoli, Josh Scofield, Trevor Bloom, Ian Glover, Jordan Stern and Josh Ryan.
“My goals as a filmmaker are pretty much to continue what I’m doing but on a larger scale. More traveling, working with a variety of people, improving as a filmmaker, and keep having fun.” -Perry Gershkow
