Boarding for Breast Cancer’s new documentary Chasing Sunshine has been selected for the Newport Beach Film Festival on April 26, 2015. The screening will begin at 4pm at the Triangle in Costa Mesa, California.
The documentary focuses on the life of professional snowboarder and longtime athlete Megan Pischke, as she undergoes the early stages of breast cancer treatment after being diagnosed at stage 3 in October 2012. Throughout her chemotherapy, Pischke maintains an optimistic and beautiful outlook on the situation unfolding in front of her, nothing less than to be expected from the lifelong athlete at heart.
Pischke has been a longtime ambassador for the nonprofit Boarding for Breast Cancer, which comes as a cruel reminder that this disease is not selective in the slightest. One month before her diagnosis, Pischke actually hosted a surf and wellness event for breast cancer survivors, an eerie coincidence that hit a little too close to home this time. The mental strength and positive attitude she had from the initial stages of diagnosis remained steadfast to the remainder of her 16 chemotherapy treatments.
Chasing Sunshine perfectly sheds light on the realities of breast cancer from a raw, up close and personal perspective. With the strong support of her husband and family by her side, she is able to share her story of struggle, triumph, and resilience to her fans, and supporters everywhere.
The nonprofit Boarding for Breast Cancer once again brings forth a film worthy of your time, energy, and appreciation. To those who are breast cancer survivors themselves, or who have been personally affected by the disease in some way, this documentary is a reminder to us all how precious life truly is.
