The Pacific Surf School invites everyone to join the “Heats for a Heart” surf contest at 8 a.m. on Nov. 16 at the Pacific Beach Drive in San Diego as an engaging way to promote organ donation.
Anyone can join with an entry fee of $20.
All proceeds will go to Jacob Kilby, a 19-year-old surfer currently waitlisted for a heart transplant, to help cover expenses as he goes through the process.
To participate, you can either e-mail the organizer Charity Roberts at firstname.lastname@example.org, sign up at Pacific Beach and Ocean Beach surf shops or sign up straight at the event at the Pacific beach before competing.
Top three winners of each division—open, girls, groms, long board— will be getting a trophy and you might want to stay after the contest because there will be a raffle.
Check out more about Kilby’s story here.
