It was all about the love at Malibu’s First Point for the 23rd annual Call to the Wall contest at the most famous right on the coast. Some of the world’s best longboarders took advantage of the uncommon empty lineup, and showed off for the crowd hangin’ their toes on the nose, and bending over backwards for righteous soul archs all the way to the sand.
The Surf Channel had a front row seat documenting the likes of CJ Nelson, Jen Smith, Francesca Seely, Lucas Dirkse, Joe Rickabaugh, and many more stylish longboarders doing their thing at the Bu. It wasn’t really about winning or losing, more about surfing the perfect right hander of Malibu with all your best friends.
So, you could say everyone was a winner…

In early 1992, a group of Malibu surfers founded the Malibu Boardriders Surf Club, a group of surfers that believe groups can do great good. The impetus for the formation was to provide an energetic vehicle to mesh the surf-culture with other community elements. As a club, they spread the “stoke” associated with surfing through promotion of community events, stewardship of the local environment and mentoring kids in a sports setting.
“Call to the Wall” is an all-volunteer event, which provides a true surf vibe, the essence of tradition and surf culture. Mahalo to the Malibu Boardriders – dedicated to community, charity, water, surf and the cornerstone of the club – “Ride with Tradition.”
