With tons of action going down at the Vans US Open of Surfing, a giant crowd made its way down to the beach each day this week. Unfortunately, Huntington Beach local Courtney Conlogue was forced to watch on the sidelines due to an ankle injury.
The Surf Channel caught up with Conlogue to find out more about her recovery time.
“I am not at a 100% yet so I’ve got to wait a little longer than expected. I will definitely be ready for the Hurley Pro in September though,” Conlogue shared while cheering for her peers at the event.
“I’ve been keeping busy doing some health and fitness segments for various news channels, and attending lots of therapy to recover and be ready for my comeback.”
Australian WCT surfer Sally Fitzgibbons met up with Conlogue mid-interview and shared a little bit about her trip to California this year.
“It’s really, really nice. I love it here,” said Sally Fitzgibbons. “I am glad to be here for a while and enjoying the event.”
When asked about the competitive spirit in the lineup, the two athletes responded, “We like to laugh and joke a lo,t but we do get competitive with each other in the line up. We come back out of the water and hug each other, play with each other again, and it’s all good.”
