Rip Curl‘s My Bikini Tour kicked off on Wednesday, July 16th at Jack’s Women’s store in Huntington Beach, California. A big crowd patiently waited in line for hours to catch a glimpse of some of their favorite females surfers. Many of their biggest fans showed up around 10a.m. to wait in line for the a scheduled signing with the athletes at 4:00p.m.
First to arrive were Rip Curl’s Junior Ambassadors Bailey Nagy and Brisa Hennessy followed by their seniors Bethany Hamilton, Nikki Van Dijk, Pauline Ado, Tyler Wright and Alana Blanchard.
The girls will be hitting the road on both coasts of the USA to interact with fans and document their adventure while they have a short break from The ASP Women’s WCT.
When asked by The Surf Channel about what she hopes to accomplish during this tour, Bethany shared: “ I hope to inspire more girls to get out and discover the wonderful sport of surfing.”
“It’s awesome to see the turn out and all the young people coming out to say, ‘Hi,’” Alana added.
Fans of all ages will look forward to seeing the girls back later this month (except for Bethany Hamilton) in Surf City for their appearances at The Vans US Open of Surfing.
The girls seem very excited to hit the road with the Rip Curl crew even though they have been globe trotting prior to this tour’s kick off. “We just got back from Mexico where we had a great time and we’re a little tired but super stoked to go on this tour with Rip Curl,” Nikki Van Dijk shared about her and Pauline Ado.
Living the surfer’s dream as they say, the girls are off to Cocoa Beach, Florida, for their appearance this Friday July 18th at Ron Jon Surf Shop, and you can catch them back in Southern California on Sunday July 20th at their Encinitas signing.
