Festival Vagabonde, a unique surf and art festival in Bordeaux France, is set to take place July 3rd-July 6th. Hosted by multiple non-profits, the festival is an eco-conscious event showcasing the arrival of surfing to Europe and celebrating the impact surfing and art have on the world today. The festival will feature surf film shorts, music, and live painting from artists including Ventura native Erik Abel.
Best known for his vivid prints featuring the ocean and outdoor landscapes, Erik will launch his newest collection at this year’s festival, titled Oceanic Triangles. This fresh and exciting collection consists of unique triangular paintings with designs ranging from wave patterns to geometric shapes that capture the union between the surf and art communities. During the live painting portion of the event, Erik will paint a cast for the Keep a Breast foundation, an organization dedicated to raising awareness and support regarding breast cancer.
After wanting to use art as a tool to give back, Erik and his fiancée also created Abel Arts Collective, a non-profit organization that collaborates with artists and groups to create inspiring art projects for the public to enjoy. Abel arts collective, as well as a variety of other non-profits, will benefit from the festival by raising funds through donations and art purchases, as well as raising awareness about their causes.
