Isla Vista, a sub community of Santa Barbara, California, lost six innocent lives on May 23rd, 2014 after a horrific shooting rampage stormed through the small college town. The UCSB Surf Team organized a memorial paddle-out at Campus Beach for the six victims who lost their lives and the 13 injured UCSB Gaucho’s still recovering.
Thousands of UCSB Gaucho students, friends, family and residents of the community all paddled out and gathered in unity to pay tribute to the victims. The Gaucho community scattered the ocean with flowers, splashed and sang songs celebrating one another and honoring the lives lost.
