Brazilian big wave surfer, Maya Gabeira, traveled to a beach break in Mainland Mexico last June to get spit out of a giant left-hander. The Red Bull athlete towed into the beast with ease, scoring herself both “Ride of the Year” and “Billabong Women’s Performance” entries in the upcoming Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards held at The Grove in Anaheim, California.
Filmer Tiago Navas captured the epic barrel for Gabeira’s chance to earn the $50,000 cash prize for “Ride of the Year.”
