Ryan Buell, Founder and President of Buell Wetsuits made in Santa Cruz, has nearly two decades of experience designing and testing wetsuits in surf-rich California. His dedication to supporting not only the local surf scene, but surfing on a global scale has led his mission to serve high performance athletes who rely on technical equipment that can take a heavy beating. Team riders include: Santa Cruz locals Ken “Skindog” Collins, Josh Loya, Savannah Shaughnessy, Austin Smith-Ford, and Brazilian World Tour competitors Adriano de Souza and Raoni Monteiro.
Ryan Buell is this week’s legendary guest on Off The Lip Radio Show. Tune-in on Tuesday night from 7-8PM PST on 1080 AM KSCO out of Santa Cruz, California, also streaming from inside the studio right here on TheSurfChannel.com.

Hear the multi-talented Ryan Buell rap about why his suit is better than your suit:
“We are pretty serious about making high performance wetsuits, for intermediate to experienced surfers. We are also all about having fun,” Buell said in an interview with Santa Cruz Waves. “The surf industry has gotten too stuffy, the lines are too straight and the logos are too corporate. Our color ways and designs are fun and we are not afraid to put eyeballs on our booties.”
“Our mascot, Static B, is somewhat of an ocean-going Bigfoot creature that supposedly lives in a cave near the ocean. He can usually be seen on a south swell, full moon. He has also be seen somewhere around Mitchell’s Cove; no one has ever gotten photographic evidence… but for now, we have artistic depictions. We use it as a monster theme. He migrates from Santa Cruz to Brazil.”

Buell Wetsuits team surfer Austin Smith-Ford earned mad respect for his section in Andy Hofman’s Innersection.tv video. Check him out ripping Santa Cruz waves:
