In torrential rain, gale force winds and large storm swells 21 year-old Lenny dominated all event to notch up his third win on the four event season and take a comprehensive 3rd World Title.
The win by Lenny comes on the back of his recent Stand Up Paddle racing series world title highlighting the Hawaiian’s all round dominance in one of the worlds fastest growing sports.
Overall this season Lenny won three of the four Stand Up Paddle Surfing World Tour events – At Sunset Beach Hawaii, Huntington Beach USA and now La Torche France – He placed 5th in the other event in Brazil .
Lenny’s win in the final event here in France showcased his dominance as he defeated Vaz by more than 10 points on a scoreline 16.5 to 5.8 for each surfers top two scoring rides.
Caio Vaz’s second place today secured him 2nd overall in the 2013 Waterman League Stand Up Paddle World Tour Ratings. Vaz placed 2nd in three of the four events on this years series and is clearly a serious challenger for next years title.
Australia’s Justin Holland (Kingscliff/NSW) was the other standout in the high performance large swells in France placing 3rd in this event. It was Holland’s second 3rd placing this season, he finished 8th overall on the season ratings and is clearly developing ta completive high end edge to his performance surfing to go into next season confident he can be a title contender.
The Women’s World Title will also be decided in France in the coming 24 hours – large cyclonic surf!
