Moonlight Beach hosted fun conditions for the 9th Annual Switchfoot Bro-Am in Encinitas, California. Both local surfers and pros gathered early Saturday morning to kick off the competition, including athletes like Rob Machado, Dylan Graves, the Hurley team and even the Grammy Award-winning rock band themselves, Switchfoot. Competitors entertained the bustling Moonlight Beach crowd with excellent surfing, not-so-excellent switch surfing (impressive nonetheless), even taking to the air and scoring a few barrels.
The Rob Machado Bro Junior competition invited surfers ages 16 and under to compete for a good cause. Participants were asked to bring gently used surf clothes on competition day to serve as their entry fee. In addition to enjoying the food, crowd and free beach concert with Rob Machado, Makua Rothman and Switchfoot, the entrants also had the chance to compete on one of Rob Machado’s very own boards.
The four-man team competition consisted of some of the best from Hurley, Billabong, Surf Ride, Shaper Studios, Chelsea’s Light Foundation, Flat Rock Eats & Drinks, Arnette, Dragon, Encinitas Firefighters Association, Univ and Macbeth.
