What makes Makuakai Rothman one of the gnarliest big wave surfers in the world? It could be his notorious reputation for being an adrenaline junkie, daring to pursue only the most dangerous exploits. It may be the massive doses of Monster Energy drinks or the Hawaiian blood running through his veins that gives him the gumption to take on 60 ft surf. One thing is for sure – from big wave surfing to firing full auto AR-15’s, Rothman definitely goes all out.
However, surfing isn’t the only talent that Rothman has embraced. He is also known as a musician, performing at various venues throughout the year. This Saturday, July 13th, the Hawaiian surfer will be performing live at the Switchfoot Bro-Am Concert in Encinitas, California. Rothman will be on stage before Switchfoot, keeping the crowd pumped prior to the headlining performance. In addition to a great musical set, Moonlight Beach will see surf a competition, and even surf jousting!

Watch “A Day in the Life of Makua Rothman”:
What you don’t see away from the cameras are the Hawaiian values Rothman exudes, the soft and gentle sounds of his ukulele and hours of working on the family farm are in stark contrast from the fully loaded athlete we see barreling down massive waves. His “Go-Green” farming project is inspiring to professional athletes trying to make a difference in their local community. Mix his love for Hawaiian local produce and good old fashion tunes, and he is the modern day iconic big wave surfer.
Don’t miss him performing LIVE at the Switchfoot Bro-AM on Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, California on July 13, 2013.
