Hawaii’s John John Florence proved just a week ago at Cloudbreak that he is unquestionably one of the most talented barrel riders in the world. After landing in Bali, Indonesia just days ago, Florence showcased his highly progressive aerial game as well after landing a 10-point alley oop in his first heat at Keramas. Despite closing down his round one heat with an excellent score of 19.37, Kauai’s Sebastian Zietz was still defeated by the Hurley athlete’s combined heat total of 19.87.
Check out one of the biggest airs in competitive surfing history, from the 2013 Oakley Pro Bali:
This week, the world’s best surfers are in Keramas in East Bali, Indonesia for the fifth stop on the 2013 ASP World Tour. With the Oakley Pro Bali, Indonesia finally returns as host to an elite competition. It’s been a five year drought for the Island of the Gods, but Local Style had a chance to check out the break before the frenzy of the World Tour rolled in.
In addition to perfect swell day in and day out, Surf Channel’s original eco travel show, “Local Style” was surprised to discover that the dawn patrol regulars were goofy footers of a different kind. Every morning at Keramas, flocks of ducks can be found shepherded around the beach.
Produced by NamHee Han. Additional Footage by Koming Barrcode and Everton Luis. Music “Hawaii” by Henry Oman.
