The battle came down to 11x ASP World Champion Kelly Slater (USA) vs. 2x ASP World Champion Mick Fanning (AUS) as they competed wave for wave at Cloudbreak during the final of the Volcom Fiji Pro 2013. Slater dominated the competition by earning a perfect score in the quarterfinal heat of the event, posting 20 out of 20 points to beat Hawaii’s Sebastian Zietz (HAW).
After Slater made history by documenting the fourth perfect score to ever be achieved in ASP history, he then proceeded to defeat surfing powerhouse John John Florence (HAW) in the semis and “white lightening” Mick Fanning in the finals. At 41 years of age, Kelly Slater reclaimed the top spot on the ASP World Tour and will continue his World Title fight at the Oakley Pro Bali, with a waiting period from June 18-29, 2013 in Keramas, Indonesia.
