The third annual Roxy Waikiki Classic came to an end this weekend with nearly 200 girls who competed. Taking place at the beautiful Queens Beach, Waikiki, Hawaii, this event has become immensely popular among young Hawaiian girls. The contest is open to all girls ages 6 and above, with both longboard and short board divisions. The girls had the chance to surf some fun waves with friends and meet influential role models like Lisa Andersen and Roxy team riders Kelia Moniz and Bruna Schmitz. Contestants and observers alike were also treated to poster signings, free hair styling by Paul Mitchell, as well as protecting their skin at the fellow sponsor Sun Bum’s tent.
While the waves were somewhat small as the south swell faded from the previous week, this didn’t stop the girls from showing the judges and beach goers their skills in the water. Roxy was also handing out free tanks, printed with either “I love Surfer Boys”, “Totally Beachin”, or “Stoked” in awesome summer colors. The Waikiki Classic is a great opportunity for local girls to get the chance to show off their improvement over the year.
