Rusty surf brand is excited to announce the signing of USA Surf Team member, Kevin Shulz, to a multi-year sponsorship contract. The 17-year-old athlete is from San Clemente, California where he learned to surf and regularly competes alongside some of the top competitors in Southern California.
“Kevin’s stoked to have such a great brand like Rusty behind him,” said Schulz’s manager, Brian Coe of BC Management. “Surfing on the same team as Josh Kerr and Jay Davies will keep him motivated and make him work even harder in the years to come.”
This past year, Schulz started competing in the USA Surf Team’s U18 division and has already become a top competitor by taking 2nd place at the Surfing America Prime contest in Huntington Beach, CA in March. The young talent took an overall 3rd place in the Southwest open men’s division of the 2012/ 2013 NSSA contest.
“We couldn’t be more fired up to have Kevin on the program and flying the flag for the Rusty brand,” said Rich Wilson, Marketing Director of Rusty North America. “He has already shown he has the skills and ability to compete, plus he has great style and energy as well. We’re looking forward to helping to support a bright future for Kevin and his surfing career.”
Rusty Surf Brand was officially founded by surfboard shaper Rusty Preisendorfer in 1985. By the time the company officially launched the Rusty brand had already been well established in the surf world because of Preisendorfer’s surf board shaping ability. The company then slowly moved towards making apparel to represent it’s boards, style and R-dot logo. Rusty continues to be an iconic surf brand in product, style, and culture, distributing equipment and apparel to surf shops world wide.
