Red Bull Switchboard presents the best of both worlds for Southern California’s college students as they hit the beach for a morning surf session and drive up the mountain for an afternoon of mountain shredding. You can expect both The Surf Channel and our sister network The Ski Channel to be livin’ it up like it’s Christmas to cover the full day of action! Students from San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles will join professional surfer Jamie Sterling and professional snowboarder John Jackson on March 16th from 7am- 5pm for the annual event in Huntington Beach, La Jolla Shores and Bear Mountain, California. Tickets for the event can be purchased at RedBullUSA.com.
Red Bull’s Jamie Sterling was born and raised on the North Shore of Oahu where he perfected his surfing repertoire for both competition and big wave surfing. At just 19 years of age, Sterling was invited to the Red Bull Big Wave Africa event and is now regularly invited to participate in the Quiksilver Big Wave Invitational in Memory of Eddie Aikau. Sterling has earned nominations for the 2008 Australian Big Wave Awards and the American Billabong XXL Awards. He is part of a committee of surfers who brainstormed the creation of the Association of Pro Tow-Surfers (APT) back in 2006, deciding on formats and locations for a full-scale big-wave surfing tour. Sterling has since won first place in the 2010 and 2011 Big Wave World Tour Championships, as well as the 2013 Nelscott Big Wave paddle.
John Jackson is from a town just a few miles from Mammoth Mountain called Crowley Lake, California. Jackson started his snowboarding career in the park and pipe competition circuit, but as he grew older his passion for the backcountry took over. In 2008, Jackson starred in Brain Farm’s film That’s It, That’s All and Forum’s Forum or Against ‘Em. In 2009 he starred in Forum’s film, Forever where his death-defying tricks led him to pick up “Men’s Rider of the Year” and “Video Part of the Year” awards from both Snowboarder Magazine and TransWorld Snowboarding. More recently, Jackson played a major role alongside Travis Rice in The Art of Flight and The Art of Flight 3D, and as star of Brothers on The Run a 16-episode web series following his adventures alongside his pro snowboarder brother Eric Jackson.
