Investigators are predicting that a 14ft shark took the life of 46-year-old television and short film director Adam Strange. The man was swimming near a popular New Zealand beach on Wednesday when the attack occurred. Police attempted to save the man by shooting the massive shark but it was too late.
There was a man named Pio Mose fishing at the beach when he noticed that Strange was panicked and fighting against the “huge” shark.
Mose told CBS news, “All of a sudden there was blood everywhere. I was shaking, scared, panicked.”
Muriwai beach has been closed since the attack. According to police inspector Shawn Rutene, Strange was approximately 650ft from the shoreline and police went to him in an inflatable surf-lifesaving boat to shoot the shark they predicted was about 12 to 14ft.
