The Surfing Heritage Foundation Vintage Surf Auction presented by Quiksilver Waterman Collection kicks off on May 11, 2013. The Surfing Heritage Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, presenting and promoting surfing’s heritage for current and future generations. Their goal is to have a more accurate understanding, representation and overall enjoyment for the sport and culture of surfing. This auction is filled with rare collectables to benefit the Surfing Heritage Foundation.
The California Gold Auction Advisory Committee has announced a truly rare item – a first run Endless Summer silkscreen poster. This 60×40 handmade silk-screened one sheet was made in Newport Beach, CA for the first showings of the movie in 1964. The flaws and flakes of color within the poster reflect the handmade build of this rare find. This poster comes directly from R. Paul Allen, the marketing genius who hired John Van Hamersveld for Endless Summer. The pre-auction estimates for this item range from $3,500 to $7,000.
Surfers, surf collectors and enthusiasts alike will love the Surfing Heritage Vintage Surfboard Auction. The auction will have live and silent auction items available. The Orange County Fairgrounds will host the event on May 11, 2013 from noon until 10:00pm. In addition to the live and silent auctions, the event will have a VIP food and cocktail reception and live music.
The auction will also be featuring Tom Rawson 8’3” Bombora Gun, Mickey Munoz/Flippy Hoffman/Jeff Johnson’s Outer Reef Gun and many more items.
