Along with the residents that suffered an intense amount of damage from Hurricane Sandy, local surf shops were hit hard as well and, in response, the iconic surf brand Rusty has donated 1000 custom “Right Coast Relief” tees to these East Coast shops. Each shop received a full size run of the custom designed tees representing the impacted regions. In order to have the most impact on the community, Rusty decided to make 100% of the proceeds from each $22 shirt, go directly to the retail stores.
“Rusty has been part of the surf culture on the East Coast for over 25 years,” says Charlie Setzler, President of Rusty North America. “After years of support by the retail community, it is our turn to help our East Coast family.”
The Rusty “Right Coast Relief” tee is part of the brand’s commitment to help retailers rebuild after the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy.
“We are very overwhelmed here with the situation but are charging ahead,” says Brain Farias, owner of Farias Surf Shop in Ship Bottom, New Jersey.” There is progress being made every day and the support coming from brands like Rusty and their ‘Right Coast Relief’ t-shirt with 100% of sales benefiting my shop, means a lot. We have a strong community here and that is evident more than ever now. We will be back and better than ever come summer!”
Rusty will be including the tees in their Fall 2013 Collection and will be donating a portion of sales to the American Red Cross to aid in East Coast reconstruction projects, in addition to raising funds for the damaged surf shops. An iconic sketch of the New Jersey Casino Pier and the Statue of Liberty are featured on the “Right Coast Relief” tees. Just in time for Christmas, tees are available at exclusive East Coast accounts and will be available in specialty stores nationwide in mid-March.
