This Saturday, December 15th, the third and final event of the American Pro Surfing Series 2012 (APSS), will hit the south side of the Huntington Beach pier. With a decent swell forecasted for this coming weekend and two competitions completed last April and September, APSS will solidify the series champion in the final event this weekend!
Industry veteran, Scott Waring, created the homegrown surf series to offer opportunities for domestic surfers to compete locally. With a tempting prize purse and tons of local bragging rights, some of Southern California’s best will head down to Huntington Beach this weekend to battle for series title.
The current APSS rankings have Torrey Meister and Erica Hosseini, leading the pack, however, Meister is unable to attend the event, leaving the first place position up for grabs. Confirmed competitors include Chris Ward (2nd in series), Chris Waring (3rd in series), Kilian Garland (9th in series), Nate Yeomans, Michael Dunphy and Surfing America wildcard Kanoa Igarashi. The female competitors will include, Erica Hosseini (1st in series), Meah Collins (2nd in series), Kaleigh Gilchrist (4th in series), Lisa Anderson (7th in series), and Surfing America wildcard Samantha Lamirand.
The competition will be formatted to four-man heats with 50 percent elimination, starting with 32 men and 16 women. You can view the live webcast here!
