The Reef Hawaiian Pro 2012 served as the first leg of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. Haleiwa hosted great conditions for over 100 of the best surfers to compete for the $40,000 first place prize and a hefty lead into the Vans World Cup. Kauai’s Sebastian Zietz took home the prize money along with 6,500 ASP Prime points, more than enough to guarantee his spot with the 2013 World Tour elite. Runner-up, John Florence (HAW), is still in the race to defend his 2011 Triple Crown title and Fred Patacchia (HAW) and Alejo Muniz (BRA) earned excellent 3rd and 4th place results that will give them a boost heading into Sunset Beach.
