Northern California may be known for its consistent swell, but it is also home to some hot fashion and innovative style. The 5th Annual Generation Next Design Competition took place at the Galleria at the San Francisco Design Center in conjunction with the most recent ASP World Tour stop, the O’Neill Coldwater Classic. The original California surf, snow and youth lifestyle brand, O’Neill welcomed thousands of guests to the event to feature fashion and a unique O’Neill neoprene swimwear line by Lauren Conrad, Marisa Miller, Jordana Brewster, A.J. Cook and Leven Rambin. It coincided with the celebration of O’Neill’s 60th Anniversary and Jack’s discovery of the wetsuit.
These one-of-a-kind swimsuits are currently being auctioned online here until November 15th. Special guests at the event included O’Neill team riders, Sage Erickson, Malia Manuel and Cory Lopez, as well as Chasing Mavericks star, Leven Rambin. The Generation Next Design Competition was presented by Paul Mitchell and Teen Vogue who gave five students from local Northern California high schools the opportunity to present their original dress designs on the runway.
International supermodel and O’Neill Brand Ambassador, Elyse Taylor, modeled each student designer’s dress on the runway and allowed the audience to decide the winner. Sidney Budlie won the event for this gorgeous dress (pictured below) and received a $5,000 scholarship, O’Neill wardrobe and design internship, as well as exposure in Teen Vogue. In addition, her winning design wil now be incorporated into the O’Neill collection.
