Toes on the Noes team rider, all-around legendary waterman and recent Surfers’ Hall of Fame inductee, Albert “Rabbit” Kekai, turns 92 on November 11th which represents the 80+ years of work that Rabbit has done for the surfing community.
Rabbit was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii where he was an excellent football and basketball player, but at age 10 he took up surfing with the help of the great Duke Kanamoku, who taught Rabbit about the art of surfing and also helped perfect his outrigger canoe skills. In Rabbits’ 81 years as a surfer, he has traveled the world as one of the great ambassadors for the sport and inspired new generations to carry on the peaceful and humble attitude that he had towards the ocean.
“We wish Rabbit happiness, health and good surf on his 92nd birthday,” said Richard Allred, Toes on the Noes president. “Rabbit is a surf God to Toes on the Noes and everyone who has encountered his legendary surfing throughout his many years and with his lifestyle, I think he will outlive us all.”
