Recently announced, the 2012 Kona Surf Film Festival will be held December 7th and 8th at the Maunalani Bay Hotel and Bungalows on the Big Island of Hawaii. Originating in 2003, the festival will be displaying independent films shot from around the world.
Chad Campbell, with the help of his friends and family, created the Kona Surf Film Festival with the hopes of bringing together the Hawaiian surf community and unite based off of a love for all things surf! Not only is the film festival solidifying the surf culture, but it is also raising money for numerous organizations, including: Kulana Huli Honua, the Betty Kanuha Foundation, Protect Kohanaiki Ohana, Seathos and the Surfrider Foundation.
The Kona Surf Film Festival is a benefactor of the Big Island community and beyond, and a grassroots event that has kept the surf cinema stoke alive. With events like this, independent film makers are able to display their surf films to a larger audience.
