The finals for the ASP World Championship Tour stop, the O’Neill Coldwater Classic Santa Cruz wrapped up today in great Northern California conditions for the world’s best surfers. With large sets rolling through Steamer Lane, competitors were given the optimum opportunities to get the scores they needed to claim the CWC title.
Taj Burrow (AUS) and Matt Wilkinson (AUS) took to the pumping swell to perform for the thousands of Santa Cruz spectators in an intense Aussie final. Burrow waited patiently in the beginning of the heat for the perfect wave as Wilko maintained consistency with the sets.
Once Burrow found his lead, Wilko did everything he could in the dying seconds of the heat to give him the high 5-point score he needed but just barely came up short.
Taj Burrow took home the shining Jack O’Neill statue trophy and a huge smile going into Pipe.
