Two juvenile great white sharks were caught and released by the same fisherman on Tuesday morning at the Manhattan Beach pier in Los Angeles county. The man who caught the two sharks commented that he has witnessed two other sightings recently in the same vicinity. Eric Martin, director of The Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab and Aquarium, believes that it is possible that the abundance of squid in that area could be the reason why the sharks are often near the pier and close to the shore.
The two great whites seen at the Manhattan Beach Pier marks the fourth sighting within the last two weeks off of the California coast, a reason for beach goers to use caution when spending time in the water.
