Get amped for the European legs of the ASP World Tour beginning with the Quiksilver Pro France, taking place September 28th – October 8th, the official waiting period. The event will be hosting the top ASP World Championship Tour athletes and include the winner of the trial series, as well as Quiksilver’s very own, Dane Reynolds. Local favorite with home field advantage will be Jeremy Flores, the French WT surfer sure to use the crowd’s energy to his advantage.
The 2011 winner of the Quiksilver Pro France was Brazilian aerial specialst, Gabriel Medina. 2010 was the year for Kelly Slater’s 1st place finish. With the momentum these two athletes had in the last event at the Hurley Pro at Trestles, there is no telling who will be crowned 2012 champion. Slater has proven to outshine multiple generations of surfers amidst the youngest stars in the surfing world; can he do it again in France? It will be an exciting event in the unrelenting shorebreaks of La Graviere, in the iconic Hossegor region.
Local standout on the ASP World Tour circuit, Jeremy Flores, is the home crowd favorite sure to use the support to his advantage. There is also a wildcard slot for the event, with 16 surfers battling for the unique slot into the main event, including: Craig Anderson (AUS), Ramzi Bouklam (MAR), Aritz Aranburu (EUK) Patrick Beven (FRA), Maxime Huscenot (FRA), Marc Lacomare (FRA), Wigolly Dantas (BRA), Leonardo Fioravanti (ITA) and many more.
Don’t forget to watch Ventura County native, Dane Reynolds, in Round 1 Heat 5 of the Quiksilver Pro France up against an Aussie lineup with Joel Parkinson (AUS) and Bede Durbidge (AUS)!

After 10 years of hosting the event, the Landes beach breaks are sure to provide the perfect turf for the best athletes especially since the event is now mobile, meaning a change in beaches according to conditions is likely to occur.
As if the world’s best surfing isn’t enough, the competition week will include several exciting activities including film screenings of Big Friday, The Art of Flight 3D and Storm Surfers 3D, pro athlete signings, skate competitions and a free concert!
Check out the trailer for Storm Surfers 3D, the big wave feature film which will be screened during the week at the event site.
With a 60kms stretch of coastline between Seignosse and St. Jean de Luz in the Basque Country, the waves are generally consistently big in the early autumn and because of the shifty sandbanks, can make this spot surprisingly challenging even for the top athletes.
